Everyone loves to get fun mail.
Thoughtful unexpected notes make your friends feel loved.
And when you have made the card yourself it will be treasured.
If you said stationery! Then I’ve got you covered! Making your own stationery is a great way to get excited about sending something out in the mail. Plus you can make it super personal–no wandering the aisles looking for the perfect card.
Another bonus is this tutorial is super fast so you can make something beautiful and heartfelt in a pinch when you don’t have time to buy something.
Let’s get started!
Before you gather your supplies Enter your email below to get your Digital Download Freebie to make creating this stationery a breeze.
Once you’ve got your artwork printed, move on to STEP2.
Using your light source place the paper on top of the artwork printout. (You will use this as a guide to keep your paint centered.) Just slap the paint on any way you want. It does not have to be precise. You can repeat this step on as many pieces of paper as you want. If you create an assembly line you can make a lot of cards pretty quickly.
If you are making several pieces of stationery the first few might even be dry by the time you finish painting; depending on how much water you lay down.
Now get your pen, realign your painted paper over the printed artwork, hold it all together over your light source and start tracing!
Here is an in process shot. It doesn't have to be perfect, feel free to simplify, modify and embellish on my art work. There are no rules! Just have fun!
Once you've finished your tracing are ready to write your letter! If you made several you can keep your stack in an easy to find place (like your Pen Gal Kit) so they are ready when you are.
You can also use this to create a piece of artwork for your home or for your friends :D Just make your paper the size of a picture frame and follow all the steps!
There are so many ways you can use this template to make some beautiful art. Add different colors, paint it like a coloring book, add a monogram, draw part of the artwork on just a corner... Below are a few examples.
I want to see what you made! Show me your finished piece! Share it with me on Instagram with the hashtag #thepengals and tag me (@bunnybearpress) or tweet at me!😁 🎨 ✨
Have a great time making! Who will you send your first letter on your own handmade stationery to?
